Always having enjoyed writing and reading whenever I could, it wasn’t until my health failed and I was forced to retire, I turned to my love of the written word to fill the void.
For thirty two years I owned and ran an automation manufacturers’ rep agency specializing in factory production.
Very enjoyable career until it wasn’t.
When the United States began to shut down manufacturing plants I hung on because I loved the job. I thought of it as puzzle solving, creative and satisfying. Eventually so many factories closed or moved off shore I was covering an insane amount of territory. Long miles on the road were made shorter by listening to audio books.
One evening I ended up on the Toronto waterfront with no recollection of how.
Dickens was the first classic author I became enchanted with. No one can color a page quite like he did. His characters explode off the page and story lines were engaging…he championed kids, the working class and poked fun at anyone who took themselves too seriously.
Dumas was next. The Count of Monte Cristo, Three Musketeers and the Man in the Iron Mask…wow. Victor Hugo’s masterpiece: Les Miserables. Rafael Sabatini’s The Sea Hawk, Captain Blood, Scaramouche and about ten other phenomenal stores. JRR Tolkien, CS Forster (Hornblower series), Hawthorne (Last of the Mochicans), Mark Twain, Sir Author Conan Doyle, Jane Austin, Mary Shelly (Frankenstein), Emilly Dickenson…the list goes on. Dean Koontz is remarkable for the beauty of his construct, novel ideas and that ultimately…good triumphs evil. These are not his strongest asset however…his love of ethical behavior, selfless motivation and embracement of the best life offers are the foundation of all his writing.
Slingshot was my first book and became so long it had to broken down into three separate books (Slingshot, Road to Damari and Right of Way.)
When I finished the last line of Right of Way, I had just finished another great Dean Koontz book (The Watchers) and thought it would be fun to try a thriller written in his style. Thus Soon led to Blind Sight both of which were very enjoyable to write. Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo was a favorite of my Father, son, daughter and myself so I decided to bring the classic story into today’s world.
Three more Slingshot books followed while currently I’m working on my first detective novel (Lincoln Dakato). I’ve loved writing all my books but Slingshot was my first and will always hold a special place for me.
My family has a soft spot for dogs which is why they always make significant appearances in my stories. We moved South as a family and now have our first granddaughter.
Writing is never a chore but reader’s comments always fan the writing flame.
Thank you for your interest in my books and I hope they have been memorable.
